Coming Out Day Billboard Featuring Gay Marine Torn Down In Memphis

Bianca Phillips of the Memphis Flyer reports on a Coming Out Day billboard in Memphis that was "ripped to shreds."
The billboard, paid for by the Memphis Gay and Lesbian Community Center, featured a saluting Marine next to the text: "I'm gay and I protected your freedom."
This comes as the repeal of "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" is
gaining traction in congress. Rep. Patrick Murphy (D-PA), veteran of the war in
Iraq
and member of the House Armed Services Committee, is championing the cause in
the House.
