NOM-Promoted Column: Pedophiles Will Use Gay Marriage As A "Cover" To Molest Foreign Children

The National Organization for Marriage (NOM) is promoting an article which suggests that pedophiles may use same-sex marriage as a “cover” in order to acquire and sexually abuse children.
A July 3 blog post titled “A toxic combination: paedophiles, baby farms, and same-sex marriage,” NOM’s Ruth Institute promoted a MercatorNet story about a gay couple that was convicted of trafficking their adopted son and producing pornographic images of him. MercatorNet’s Michael Cook cited the incident as evidence that same-sex marriage will serve as a cover for pedophiles to commit their crimes:
Abuse of infants and children is not confined to homosexuals. But Newton and Truong actually portrayed themselves in the media as champions of gay rights. Under the headline “Two dads are better than one”, the ABC (Australia) described the idyllic world of their son in 2010. “Becoming gay parents was hard work for Pete and Mark but they’d do it all over again if they had to,” the ABC journalist wrote. “It’s a happy, relaxed family scene. But it wasn’t an easy road to get there. After many hurdles [their son] was born by surrogacy in Russia.”
Child abuse, sadly, is nothing new. What is new is bringing children into the world for the express purpose of being abused. The toxic combination of same-sex adoption and surrogate motherhood makes that possible.
Children are created as an industrial product in overseas baby farms. They have no mother. They are brainwashed to accept abuse as normal. Their owners are entitled to a presumption of respectability because of their status as a committed (and perhaps married) couple. And suspicions can be doused by treating them as homophobic paranoia.
Probably only a few of the gay couples who enter same-sex marriage will be paedophiles. But the ghastly story of Newton and Truong suggests that same-sex marriage will be the best possible cover for those who are. [emphasis added]
NOM’s promotion of such a wild-eyed theory fits the organization’s pattern of seizing upon sex abuse scandals to promote the discredited homosexuality-pedophilia myth.
The group infamously exploited the Penn State football scandal in an attempt to link homosexuality and pedophilia. When an openly gay Irish presidential candidate admitted in 2011 to a prior sexual relationship with a 15-year-old Israeli boy, NOM obsessed over the case. And in December 2011, the Ruth Institute’s blog endorsed “Same-Sex Marriage: Putting Every Household at Risk,” a book that asserts that gay parents molest their own children.
Despite assurances from people like NOM co-founded Maggie Gallagher that the organization doesn’t harbor any animus toward gays, its persistent efforts to link gays with pedophilia suggest otherwise.
