Fox's Erickson Dismisses Transgender People: "A Person Is Born Male or Female And That's Their Gender"

One day after calling Texas State Senator Wendy Davis "Abortion Barbie," Fox News contributor Erick Erickson slammed transgender individuals.

In response to a pro-transgender op-ed posted on Truth-Out.org, Erickson wrote a series of tweets on August 7 stating that transgender people are mentally ill - a claim not supported by medical experts - and conflating sex with gender.

Erickson's anti-transgender rant began with a rhyme:

He proceeded to equate sex with gender:

Erickson also lambasted "the left" for acknowledging the distinction between sex and gender:

Erickson's anti-transgender animus is not out of place at Fox, where reporters have routinely mocked and demonized transgender individuals, prompting GLAAD to ask of Fox's transphobic coverage "when will it change?" As long as Erickson remains employed there, the answer, it appears, is not anytime soon.
